I just did this exact run - took me about a month and a half. What I've noticed is that AFE goods are in much higher demand than FE goods on the market (apart from selling arc sets) as SAM players get FE goods from their gbs (right?) and everyone above AFE could still need goods for promethium extraction. And if you are using reno kits to get AFE goods (instead of FE if you stopped there) from special buildings, they can always be traded down to even more FE goods. I'm not saying making the jump would be the only right thing to do, but that it would be relatively easy to make it work pretty well. But if you get plundered regularly, you could always make one blacksmith and 5min production from there that shows the attacker your city has always something to plunder and he might not even notice when your other collections are ready. Top of the neighborhood or not, I don't really think it's a big deal if you can collect on time. You didn't mention the level of your gbs, do you have high level Arc, CF etc? In AFE you get two recurring quest slots for spending fps so with those you will make more than enough goods if you have the opportunity to utilize them. On top of that I use couple AFE battle fortresses and I have 2/2/1 barracks of each respectively to give me enough troops for whatever fighting I do (not GvG, traz ~20) alongside rogues. I find it super useful to use TE combat drones and FE hover tanks in AFE fight both in GE and Gbg. I thought to spend a lot of time in FE but didn't really like it and with AFE GE lvl4 is pretty easy with relatively low att-% (there's even a guide in YouTube).
